Dancing Around the World
Updated: Apr 26, 2019
Back in 2010, I had the privilege of getting to photograph dancer Jocelyn Burns when she was still a young teen dancing at the Canadian School of Ballet. Even from this photo I snapped of Jocelyn back then, you could tell there was something about her, that she had “it” – the “it” needed to succeed as a professional dancer.
So where is she now? Jocelyn left Kelowna to be a trainee at the Joffrey Ballet School in their Jazz and Contemporary program, then graduated from Point Park University in Pittsburgh with her BFA majoring in dance. She is currently working as a professional dancer in New York City. She’s performed in the Best Buddies Benefit Concert as part of a duet in Carnegie Hall, and in NYC Fashion Week twice – one of which was in collaboration with Louis Vuitton. She also recently finished up a contract on the luxury Holland America cruise lines as part of the inaugural cast of the Step One Dance Company.
You just never know where these young Kelowna dancers will end up! Best of luck, or should I say “Merde!” to you Jocelyn!
